Home Schooling

Does Harbury Village Library have any books which I can borrow for a child who is being Home Schooled?

Yes. We have approximately 100 Board Books for smaller children, 800 Picture Books, 2000 books of Children's Fiction, including Early Readers, and 1000 Children's Non-fiction books covering most school curriculum subjects. In addition we have a number of illustrated Adult Non-fiction books which would be suitable for children in years 5 and 6, particularly in the areas of Nature and History.

How can I request a book?

There are a number of ways of requesting books during lockdown.

  • For Harbury's own collection of books you can request books by clicking on a link in our Harbury Online Catalogue

  • For Warwickshire County Library books you can request books by clicking on a link in the Warwickshire Online Catalogue. Note that as the book may not be in Harbury there will be a delay in the book being delivered to us.

  • If you're not sure which book you want you can submit a Choose for Me request providing information about the author or subject you're interested in and how old the child is

  • Send us an email at library@harburyvillagelibrary.org.uk giving details of the book(s) you'd like

  • Phone us on 01926 258 776 with details of your requirements. Please note that the phone may ring for a little while, but voice mail will kick in eventually

Once I've requested a book how do I get it?

There are three ways:

  • You can collect the books from the library between 10 am and 12 noon on Mondays and between 2 pm and 4 pm on Thursdays

  • If you let us know your address we can deliver the books to you

  • If you have agreed it in advance, we can deliver the book(s) to the school and you can collect them from there

If you have any other questions please contact us.
