The European Day of Languages - Friday, September 26th, 2014 The exhibition will run all week from Monday 22nd to Saturday 27th, so drop by and have a look at the display. If you're not sure that a European Day of Languages sounds much fun have a look at these Language Facts and Fun - let us know how you got on with the French and German tongue twisters. And if that's not enough encouragement, Biblio's will be offering a selection of European themed cakes during the day.In order to celebrate the European Day of Languages we have created a Pop-Up Exhibition with copies of books in as many different European languages as we could find. Right now we have books in: Alsatian Breton Croatian Czech Dutch English French German Greek (Ancient) Greek (Modern) Hungarian Irish (Gaelic) Italian Kashubian Latin Norwegian Polish Russian Rusyn Serbian Shorthand (OK, that's cheating) Slovak Spanish Swedish Turkish and Welsh. Here's a list of some of the books in the display. In addition to books provided by Warwickshire County Council and books in French donated to the library by the Harbury Twinning Association in collaboration with the good people of Samois-sur-Seine, we are starting to build our own collection of foreign language books which have either been donated or purchased with funds from our 'Buy a Book' scheme. |
