Thanks to the generosity of our community and the hard work of our volunteers, Harbury Seed Share has been able to offer a valuable service during the early days of the coronavirus lockdown. In addition, we have been able to raise £25 for the Earthworms Gardening Club and £23.40 for GASS to go towards Scout Hut costs.

Now that restrictions are starting to be lifted the focus of the scheme is changing.

Seedling donations are declining at the same time that traditional supplies of plants have begun to return. As a result, the regular drop off and pick up sessions stopped at the end of May and the online seedling register is no longer be available. If we receive further donations we'll hold an occasional pop-up sessions, publicised in advance.

In the event that the Seedling Share resumes, here's a reminder of how it works.
Here's how the Seedling Share works:
  • Donate by dropping your plants off with our volunteers on Wednesday 6th May between 11.30 am and 1 pm
  • Later that evening you'll be able to view an online register of what has been donated and select your seedlings online, the same way you selected your seeds.
  • We will quarantine the plants and seedlings in the Scout Hut for 72 hours, keeping them watered and cared for.
  • At first, we will operate a 'click and collect' service. In future, we hope it will be safe to have a table where people can pop by and browse, but for now it will be collecting orders only
  • We'll send you an email to let you know when your plants are ready for collection
